Today we are showcasing Gary’s 2012 Volkswagen Sportwagen. Gary used our G2 Deep Blue Pearl Audi Volkswagen Custom Color Match Brake Caliper Paint. These are the pictures he forwarded along…

This is what he had to say to say about the experience…
Wow! Seriously, this paint could be used to paint a whole car.
I used the “VW Deep Blue Pearl” paint on my new 2012 Sportwagen with < 300 miles.
Awesome finish that looks like it’s an inch thick with really cool color shifts in changing light (deep blue to bright blue to deep blue) as the clouds move across the sky.
The photo from a distance doesn’t do it justice. With the naked eye the subtleties are obvious, and, even though the color is intended to be “low profile”, “car people” are asking me questions.
I want to thank Gary for forwarding on these great pictures! I hope they will inspire you as much as they have inspired everyone here!

G2 Custom Color Match Brake Caliper Paint
So you want to purchase a G2 Custom Color Match Brake Caliper Paint, but you know the only way to accurately match a color is with the make, model, year and color code, you want to supply all four pieces of information (make, model, year and color code) in order for us to accurately match your color. Make, model and year are no problem, the thing is you can’t find your color code…
Maybe I can help you out.
The good news is, on most vehicles locating the color code is easy. However, some manufacturers place the code in odd places and you may have to check several locations. Remember… You are looking for a plate, sticker, decal or stamping on the body somewhere.
Below you will find some helpful starting points for finding the color code on different vehicles:
- Acura/Honda –> Color id plate generally on the drivers door jamb.
- Audi –> Hidden around the spare tire on a paper tag and can often be loose or folded over
- BMW –> Usually underneath the hood by the strut towers.
- Ford –> Always on the drivers door jamb, but often they will have the color code above where it says “Exterior Paint Code”.
- GM –> GM has a fairly confusing code system. Often there will be a BC CC before the color code. This stands for Basecoat/Clearcoat. The U in the paint code means the Upper Color and the L means the Lower Color. Don’t get confused by the BC CC and the U and L, they are not actually a part of your color code.
- Hyundai –> Usually on the drivers door jamb.
- Infiniti –> Always on the drivers door jamb.
- Jaguar –> Usually on the drivers door jamb, but in older models, it can be under the hood, trunk, etc.
- Kia –> Usually on the drivers door jamb, but in older models, it can be under the hood, trunk, etc.
- Land Rover –> Usually on the drivers door jamb or under the hood.
- Lexus –> Has the color code on the drivers door jamb
- Mazda –> On the drivers door jamb, but in older models, it can be under the hood, trunk, etc.
- Mercedes –> Located by the radiator.
- Mitsubishi –> Under the hood or the drivers door jamb.
- Nissan –> Always on the drivers door jamb.
- Porsche –> Usually around the spare tire, but it can also be on the drivers door jamb, under the hood, trunk, etc.
- Subaru –> Usually underneath the hood by the strut towers.
- Saab –> Usually on the drivers door jamb.
- Toyota –> Has the color code on the drivers door jamb.
- Volkswagen –> Hidden around the spare tire on a paper tag and can often be loose or folded over.
- Volvo –> Usually underneath the hood towards either side.
What are you waiting for??? Request your custom color already! If you have any questions, as always I value your feedback, you can contact me via e-mail at billh@g2usa.com, or if you prefer to call me, I am here to answer your questions Monday through Friday 9 AM/CST – 5 PM/CST at 1-847-388-3901!

I got a call from Steve Timm about 2 weeks ago. Steve is an active member of Team Shelby out of Simi Valley California with a Torch Red GT500 that any Mustang enthusiast would give his right arm to own. Steve had the 23rd Annual Fabulous Ford Car Show at Knott’s Berry Farms coming up on Sunday, April 20, 2008 and he had a request…
Our standard red G2 high temperature brake caliper paint was darker than the factory Ford Torch Red finish on Steve’s GT500. He really wanted to paint his calipers before the show, however he wanted to be sure the color match was perfect. Being a Mustang enthusiast myself I completely understood his desire, and I wanted to help him out.
Within a few days, thanks to Steve, I had a sample in my hands, and a mission on my mind. I needed to get him a sample of Mustang Torch Red Brake Caliper paint in time for him to get it applied before the show on April 20th.
After a few days of nail biting and a torrent of encouraging, then demanding, then begging and pleading phone calls between my office and the lab I had finally gotten a good sample, I crossed my fingers and held it up to the control and well… Judge the results for yourself below…

Steve applied the paint with a Preval Portable Sprayer available here.

Once the paint had cured Steve applied Brembo decals.

The front brakes really pop with what appears to be a factory finish!

The matching rear brakes look awesome as well!

A wider shot gives you an overall sense of how the car looks on the street.

And this shot left us breathless… And jealous!
Overall we think it turned out fantastic! In fact we are so pleased with the color we are considering adding it permanently to our line of Limited Edition Mustang Brake Caliper Paint Colors. Let me know what you think… Would you be interested in a Mustang Torch Red Brake Caliper Paint from G2?
As always if you have any questions or comments I’m always here to answer them, and I would love to see your results…You can submit installation pics to G2 here to be featured…
So…
What are you waiting for??? Go paint your calipers already!
