Picture perfect brake caliper paint application!

November 27th, 2010 by BillH

Apparently I am not the only one who thinks that Brian Torok’s 2004 Lexus IS300 with Red G2 brake caliper paint is picture perfect!

The Passionate Pursuit, a website dedicated to covering the most up-to-date and interesting news and views on Lexus, Toyota’s luxury car marque recently published this “An Argument for Painted Brake Calipers” on their blog stating:

“Painted brake calipers are a nice enough touch, but they take on new significance when you see a photo like this”referring to the photo seen below.

This car features the most beautiful brake caliper paint application I have ever seen… Hands down! Seriously… If you are on the fence as to whether or not you want to paint your calipers, one look at this 2004 Indigo Ink Pearl Lexus IS300 with 18 inch Katana ZR5 wheels, Brembo drilled and slotted rotors and Red G2 brake caliper paint illustrates exactly why you should!

Brian says:

The car is a work in progress, but mods to date are:

  • 18″ Katana ZR5 wheels, hyper black with a machined lip
  • Brembo rotors
  • G2 Red painted calipers with caliper stickers from MotoGFX.com
  • Window tint
  • KNN Fuel Injection Performance Kit, generation 2 intake
  • Tanabe Medallion Touring cat-back exhaust
  • Custom XM radio install
  • JL 12″ subwoofer and amp
  • Swift lowering springs
  • Clear side markers

All mods have been performed by myself (except for the tint). I had never worked on cars before I got the IS300. I’ve learned a lot from the online communities I belong to. Thanks to everyone from www.my.is and www.clublexus.com for your insight, instruction, and inspiration. Thanks also go out to Timothy Bui for taking those awesome pictures for me. More to come… I have a body kit in the mail, and will be doing some lighting mods in the future, as well as a complete audio system overhaul, and eventually forced induction.

John Mills’ 2007 Scion tC with Purple G2 Brake Caliper Paint!

November 24th, 2010 by BillH

Today we feature John Mills’ 2007 White Scion tC sporting 17″ alloy rims and Purple G2 Brake Caliper Paint!

John is an active member of the G2 Performance Styling Products Car Club, in fact he was one of the first members to join the G2 Performance Styling Products Car Club. He holds the distinction of being member number 6 in our club and we really appreciate all of his efforts, as well as the great feedback we have received from him since he has become a member! Thanks John!

Speaking of efforts… If it’s true that the Scion was originally introduced by Toyota as a concept car… Then what a concept it was. Johns’ ride looks fantastic, the Purple G2 Brake Caliper Paint really stands out against the white body, offering a great contrast and the ultimate accent to an already great looking car.

Have a look for yourself:

John included this list of tools used, as well as the steps he took in his project:

Tools required for removal of brake calipers on the Scion tC:

  1. 3/8″ rachett
  2. 14mm deep socket (rear brakes)
  3. 17mm sockett (front brakes)
  4. 8mm wrench (for when you bleed the brakes if you decide to completely remove the caipers)
  5. Hammer (used to persuade any tight bolts)
  6. Rotary tool (any brand will work, but one that gets plugged in is best.
You don’t have to keep replacing batteries)
  7. grinding wheels (for rotary tool)

After removing wheels and calipers (making sure to keep all items seperated in their own area so they don’t get damaged or lost) use the grinding wheel on the rotor to smooth the surface of the caliper.

This step is only if you have cast calipers because of the dimples that remain from the molding process.
Smooth the caliper to your desired “taste/smoothness”. I did mine for about 30 min. on the front and 20 min. on the rear. (If you have drums then this will take longer. Non-tC)

Spray the caliper or drum with the supplied brake cleaner and be liberal, but equal for each caliper or drum.

As stated with the video and supplied instructions DO NOT RUSH.

By doing the above I found that the texture/smoothness was better then I had expected.

Thanks G2

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to share your ride John! That is one great looking Scion!

Paul Ramos’ 2005 Mustang on 18 inch Kazera Rims with G2 Yellow Brake Caliper Paint.

November 22nd, 2010 by BillH

It takes only one look at this sweet ride to realize why the new Mustang is so popular! Nothing says modern American sporty car better than this new Mustang. With the classic long hood and short rear deck, the new pony features retro design features reminiscent of Mustangs from the 60s. Not to mention the aggressive 67 style front end which makes it… At least in my opinion more of a shark than a pony, and one bad ass ride!

The bottomline is it’s faster, more agile and better looking than ever, and I hate to say this GM guys… But after 40 years of competition with the Camaro, Firebird and others, it’s the only one left.

Paul Ramos from San Francisco, California submitted the pictures below of his 2005 Mustang on 18″ Kazera Rims and brake calipers painted with Yellow G2 Brake Caliper Paint. Paul is 19 years old and one year away from completing school. He is studying to become a firefighter, which is probably a good choice because it looks like his ride is hot enough to burn up some pavement! Check it out…

Paul and his dad and painted the calipers black and yellow with our G2 Brake Caliper Paint to match his 18 inch Kazera wheels which are black and silver with yellow detail, and we here at G2 think they did a great job!

“Your paint also matches my yellow “Support Our Troops” ribbons. I have one on each side of my car because my dad is an Air Force veteran and I also have two friends in the Army who just returned from their tours of duty.” - Paul Ramos.

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to share your ride Paul! That is one of the best looking Mustangs I’ve seen!
